THE GREAT MERGER
As mentioned earlier, Dato’ Sri Kandan is presently
the Chairman of AECOM Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. AECOM
Technology Corporation (NYSE: ACM), is a leading
provider of professional technical and management
support services for public and private clients in more Surveying instead at that time, 40 years down the
than 150 countries around the world. The merger
between the KPK Group and AECOM was officially
announced on October 5, 2012. With the merger, the
KPK Group, a construction cost, contract and project
management firm, joined Davis Langdon, An AECOM
Company. In Malaysia, KPK continues to market itself
as KPK Quantity Surveyors.
With the merger it enabled the KPK Group to offer local assistant editor, sub-editor and the acting editor many
services excellence blended with global expertise and
an integrated suite of services to address complex
project challenges across various markets, ranging
from building and construction services for commercial
and residential facilities, to sport and healthcare,
infrastructure and large scale transportation, water,
energy and mining projects.
Although, initially the KPK Group were hesitant to merge
with a global organization but after considering that its
benefits outweigh the challenges, they agreed to the
merger in 2012. Believe it or not, engineering was what
Dato’ Sri originally applied for in his diploma course at the
Technical College, KL although he was offered Quantity
road, Dato’ Sri Kandan, now leads engineers in AECOM
Malaysia, Kudos Dato’ Sri!
CONCLUSION
Before concluding the interview, Dato’ Sri Kandan
congratulated the Surveyors’ Malaysia Journal for its
50th anniversary this year. He informed that he was the
years ago and took pride in the journal being the voice of
the RISM. He believes NOW is the time for the Surveyors’
Malaysia Journal to become the voice of the Industry and
this would lead to a greater sharing with the public and
community in general. “It is my wish and dream that the
journal, a media of RISM grows from strength to strength
and is able to achieve this singular objective.”
