                     The interview is conducted by Sr Dr. Yasmin bt Mohd Adnan, a Committee member of PMVS
                  Division 2015/2016 and a Senior Lecturer of Department of Estate Management, Faculty of Built

                                                           Environment, University of Malaya.

Dato’ Sr Lau Wai Seang has been a member of RISM since 18th August 1982. Since
then, she has been actively contributing to RISM. She started her professional career
as a Valuation Officer with the Valuation and Property Services Department (JPPH1),
Ministry of Finance Malaysia on 10th April 1980. She graduated with a Bachelor
of Surveying (Property Management), UTM and possessed an MBA (Real Estate),
University of Western Sydney, Australia. She is a Registered Valuer, a Registered Estate
Agent, was certified by MyIPO/World Trade Institute, Switzerland as an Intellectual
Property Valuer and accredited by the International Association of Consultants,
Valuators and Analysts (IACVA), USA as a Business Valuer.

                          Q&A

                        Q.	Since becoming an RISM member in
                                                                               1982, what are the positions that you
                                                                               have held?

                                                                                      A. Well Yasmin, there were lots of positions I had held
                                                                                      over the past 34 years as an RISM member. But I
                                                                                      would like to share only meaningful milestones. And
                                                                                      all these developments followed me as I served the
                                                                                      government for 35 years.

                                                                                      While I was serving as the Sarawak Federal Valuer2
                                                                                      in the mid-1980s, the State and Federal valuation
                                                                                      agencies did not enjoy cordial relationships. I
                                                                                      managed to improve this situation by being active
                                                                                      in the RISM Sarawak Branch activities. I gained their
                                                                                      friendship and trust as I was elected the Chair to their
                                                                                      PCVS3 Division Session 1990/1991 and was appointed
                                                                                      by Datuk Ambrose Foo, the then Sarawak RISM Chair
                                                                                      as well as the Sarawak State Director of Lands and
                                                                                      Mines, as the Auditor the following Session.
