GUIDELINE FOR SURVEYORS’ BENEVOLENT FUND

 

1. CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE 21 ENTRANCE FEE, ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION, AND OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE ESTABLISHED FUNDS

(13) General Council shall be empowered to credit five (5) percent of the donation of RM5,000.00 to the Surveyor's Benevolent Fund.

2. Objectives

The objectives of the Surveyors’ Benevolent Fund are as follows;

  1. to provide relief to persons who are incapacitated by or suffering from a terminal illness, age, accident, or another infirmity (whether bodily or mental).
  2. to provide assistance for bereavement.
  3. to provide any other assistance which the Committee deems appropriate.

3. Benevolent Fund Committee

3.1 The Council shall be empowered to appoint the Chairman of Surveyors’ Benevolent Fund Committee. In order to manage the said Fund, the appointed Chairman must form his/her committee with at least five (5), but not more than six (6) members represented by surveyors from all RISM divisions and related RISM officer(s).

3.2  The Term of Reference (ToR) of the said committee among others are as follows;

  1. to assist RISM in managing and updating the Surveyors’ Benevolent Fund records
  2. to receive and assist the process of Surveyors’ Benevolent Fund application from the qualified member
  3. to organize meetings at least 3 times a year
  4. to submit/present the Surveyor’s Benevolent Fund’s report to RISM Councillor

4. Beneficiaries

The qualified persons to receive such relief shall be in conditions of;

  1. present members of RISM who without fail pay the continuous annual subscription fee, or;
  2. present members of RISM who fail to pay not more than three years continuous annual subscription fee will be considered, or;
  3. RISM staffs who have served not less than one year and have been passed through the probation period

5. Disbursement of a Benevolent Fund

5.1 Upon confirmation received on the bereavement of the member, the Committee will instruct the RISM Secretariat to prepare the necessary documentation for the disbursement of funds to the next of kin.

5.2 A formal application must be submitted within 6 months to the RISM providing for the disbursement of funds.

 

6. Quantum of Award

The quantum of the award to the qualified persons for loss of capabilities, major illness, and death are as follows;

  1. a) For major illness, a Lump Sum donation of not more than RM3,000.00
  2. b) The purchase of flowers or fruits basket not exceeding RM200.00
  3. c) In the event of death, a lump sum donation of RM5,000.00 will be donated to the next of kin
  4. Subsequent assistance is at the discretion of the committee such as funeral transportation

7. procedures

7.1 The applicants shall be submitted the Surveyors’ Benevolent Fund Form to the Committee or related the RISM officer with supporting documents such as a certified copy of Death Certificate

7.2 Recipient must sign the Acknowledgement Slip upon receipt of the funds for record purposes.

8. Payment Mode

The payment will be made by cheque or electronic fund transfer (EFT) to the eligible next of kin within seven (7) working days after the application has been submitted.
